Board Members Present: Bill Ramsden, Bill Aldridge, Lou Coggia,
Dallas Silverthorne
10 slip owners
Absent: Jim Rudbeck
Presidents Opening Comments
· Acting President Bill Ramsden
opened by informing everyone that Jim Rudbeck was in Italy and they had to
settle for the “second string!”
· Bill reported that friends of
the Bynum’s were in their slip for about 4 days and upon leaving said that
this was the nicest marina they had ever been in.
· On a sad note, electric costs
are up 25% for April due to higher usage. Possibly the 2 extra days in the
billing period plus some heaters were still being used could be the cause.
If you’re not on your boat, keep the air conditioning at 80 or mid 80’s just
to keep the humidity down.
· Finally, we have been having
such a nice spring, we hope people get out and use their boats.
Open Discussion - None
Formal Meeting
Bill Ramsden called the meeting to order at 7:06pm. A quorum was declared
present. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the minutes of
the last meeting.
Financial Update
Lou Coggia reported we
have collected everybody’s annual dues including penalties on the last two.
Copies of the financials were distributed to all present showing we are
ahead of budget primarily because our interest earned so far is higher than
budgeted. Even with the added minor maintenance expenditures, we are staying
within our budget. We are going to roll over a large CD, which will yield
apx. 2% less than we have been receiving. This year our interest should make
budget but next year we will have a reduced return due to the lower rates
now in place. We may also have to re-calculate our reserves using the lower
rates. Some discussion was made about the necessity of re-calculating the
reserves based on conditions. It was moved, seconded and passed to accept
the report.
Marina Maintenance Committee
Lou Coggia reported that
we have been getting very good response to our work parties and we just
finished the hinge inspections we now know what to look for during the
inspection and what we will point out to ATM on their inspection. Bill
Ramsden stated that a binder of what inspections have found as well as the
general maintenance is being put together plus the dock walks for ATM. A
motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the report.
Old Business
·
Bill Ramsden reported the Board last week, with input from previous board
members and slip owners, voted to bring a motion at this meeting to hire ATM
to do the formal inspection of our dock system in November, being after the
hurricane season and before the really cool weather starts.
·
Dallas Silverthorne made the motion to hire ATM and have Neal Atkinson as
our liaison to draw up the necessary contract for inspection targeting for
November 2008, not to exceed $5,000. Bill Aldridge seconded and the motion
carried unanimously.
New Business - None
Other Business
Bill Ramsden reported that one of the MMC members suggested we place
reflective red tape at the tops of the pilings closest to the fire
extinguishers. Upon investigation, the tape would cost about $150 and then
entail someone climbing a ladder on the docks to place the tape atop the
pilings. It was agreed that it was not worth it- extinguishers are within 25
feet of every boat slip and this was a nice idea but not really necessary.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm. The next open forum is June 18,2008.
Submitted by Bill Aldridge 05/29/08.
